Good God...

OK, yes, this blog is about Cantwell in '06, but I am interested in other things as well, and this statement by Senator Bill Nelson of Florida is so MIND NUMBINGLY insensitive and trite it's difficult to describe:

Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Melbourne, said he will remember that "this quiet, shy woman who shunned the spotlight educated everyone on the importance of filling out a living will."


She DIED to remind people to have living wills?

Good grief, I know Nelson is trying to straddle the fence on this, but this is a bit ridiculous, not to mention just insensitive and crude.

In effect, her dying may well cause people to think about their living wills, but she died because her husband decided her life wasn't worth living. It's fine if you agree with his decision, but good grief, this statement is just insulting.
